What to expect for Marvel movies in 2019

Every year new movies are released for Marvel lovers everywhere. In 2018, the top three grossing Marvel movies were Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. But 2019 is going to be a great year for Marvel fans. The big movies coming out are Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Avengers: Endgame. Trailers have been released for each, but Marvel has tried to keep as many secrets as possible to avoid leaks, especially for Avengers: Endgame. Here’s what you can expect for Marvel movies in 2019, but be aware, possible spoilers ahead.

Marvel Studio’s Captain Marvel opened with a worldwide box office of over $450 million, the sixth biggest all time.

To start off, Captain Marvel arrived in theaters on March 8 and has already gone on to earn over $450 million as of its opening weekend. We first got a hint in April last year, when Captain Marvels emblem appeared at the very end of Avengers: Infinity War, letting us know, her movie was on the way. The movie is set in the 1990’s with young Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, alongside Carol Danvers, played by Brie Larson, while she fights in an alien galactic war. For fans of Guardians of the Galaxy, villain Ronan will be an antagonist in the movie. He is a leader for the Krulls, an alien life form that can supposedly shape shift into people and objects.  From the trailer, Captain Marvel’s look changes from her soldier uniform, to her iconic comic super suit. As for the rest of the story, I’ll leave it up to you to see the movie.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be Tom Holland’s 4th appearance as the web-slinger, and his second solo Marvel movie. The film is said to take place after Avengers: Endgame, when Peter Parker joins his friends on a trip to Europe over the summer. So obviously, we know Peter will return in Avengers: Endgame. Along with him dealing with super villains, he also has to face some feelings as he grows closer to MJ, played by Zendaya. As far as the cast goes, Jake Gyllenhaal joins the MCU as Mysterio, who appears to send a helping hand to Peter in the trailer, despite his evil personality in the comics. In the comics he has the powers to make illusions, that make him appear to be good. So maybe, he is not as innocent as he looks in the trailer. The trailer also showed Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury. When it comes to villains, we are able to see three enemies, Sand-man, Hydro-man, and Molten-Man. Which made fans consider if this is a version of The Elementals, a group of immortals who made their appearance in Marvel Comics in 1974. The characters where Hydron, Magnum, Hellfire, and Zephyr, which all have the same abilities as the ones shown in the trailer. Peter Parker will also get two new suits, as set photos and the trailer showed Holland in upgrades. One suit is shown to be red and black, with a white spider symbol on the back. Thought it seems that we will not see the amazing  ‘Iron Spider’ suit that was designed by Tony Stark from Infinity War. He also gets to wear the Stealth Suit, or also referred to as the Noir suit. It is a full back suit with pads and usual spider lenses from his other suits. These both could be made by Nick Fury, since he appears to ‘hire’ him.  The sequel comes out on July 5th, and Holland returns as the spider, to face the multiple villains in Europe.

The anticipated “Spider-Man: Far From Home” starring Tom Holland as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man comes to theaters on July 5.

Avengers: Endgame will be the movie series finally we have all even waiting for. In 2008, Robert Downey Jr. started what would be one of the biggest movie franchises we have ever seen in Iron Man. Since then, there has been a total of 21 MCU films, but let’s not forget the amazing X-Men series with Hugh Jackman leading as Wolverine. The cast list is filled with heroes. We will see the original six avengers, Captain America, Ironman, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye. But the trailer also showed Rocket Racoon and War Machine with the remaining heroes. When it comes to Tony, the trailer showed him and Nebula on the spaceship from Infinity War that was left on Titan, Thanos’s home planet. In the trailer, he states that the oxygen is about to run out, which hinted a possibility of his death. Fans consider that since Brie Larson, Captain Marvel, is on the cast list, she will save Tony and Nebula. The trailer showed Ant-Man, at the front gate of Avengers HQ, which made the internet blow up, since he was trapped in the ‘Quantum Realm’ in the last Ant-Man film. We can expect that heroes that are either lost, or ‘dusted’ by Thanos in Infinity War, will return to fight. How will they return? Who knows; some people think that the victims of Thanos are not dead but are in the Soul Stone. While others think time travel will be involved to stop Thanos, and resurrect the fallen. Personally, I think they will use time travel, since set photos have showed Tony, with Captian America and Ant-Man, in the battle of New York.  But until April 26th, we know Endgame will be the huge battle between the Avengers and the mad Titan, Thanos, we have all been waiting for.

Marvel fans have been expecting a finale like this since Ironman. We finally got a MCU Spider-Man series, and Captain Marvel has hit the big screen. Even though the main Avengers could leave the MCU, their legacy carries on in Spider-Man, Black Panther, and many more new heroes continue the Marvel franchise.
