Nike. Adidas. Jordan. Three of the biggest names in the sneaker industry. However, the brand known mostly by people in the mid-Atlantic region, most notably Baltimore, is also on the short list of notable apparel companies. Founded in 1996 by Maryland native Kevin Plank, Under Armour has made a name for itself all around the world. Under Armour is a feel good story in the region, bringing jobs and opportunities to many citizens in the Baltimore-area with their worldwide headquarters being recently finished here in Charm City. One of these opportunities includes allowing senior Leo “Chip” Quinn the ability to shadow at the headquarters for his Senior Project.

For his Senior Project, Chip will be making the trek to Baltimore each day to work with Colton Vosburgh. Vosburgh is a family friend, and longtime coach of the Quinn family, and is a Penn State graduate. With a B.S. in business and a focus of management and marketing, Vosburgh has worked at Under Armour for about 7 and a half years. Starting out as a Key Account Coordinator, he has worked his way up from being Associate Product Line Manager in Gloves and Equipment to become the Product & Brand Manager of Lacrosse, Golf, and Soccer Equipment. Chip will spend his 2 weeks in the shadow of Mr. Vosburgh and help him with tasks as they are needed alongside attending a numerous amount of meetings.

Of his internship, Chip Quinn said, “I wanted to build relationships so I could possibly get a job one day at Under Armour, because it is a company I think is taking a step in the right direction.” While shadowing at Under Armour, Chip said that he will be helping with the projects that Mr. Vosburgh is involved in, going to meetings, and doing research for the sponsored schools throughout the country.  One of the interesting aspects of his internship will be getting to see products that aren’t yet available to the consumers, but are still in the review phase. “I had a meeting with Under Armour lacrosse athletes and reviewed some new products that won’t be out for a couple of years,” Chip said. Chip will be using this time to learn from Mr. Vosburgh as he had the same path that Chip hopes to have when he enters college.

Chip will be playing lacrosse at the University of Lynchburg while majoring in Business with a minor in Accounting. With his Senior Project, Chip has the opportunity to boost his knowledge and get his feet wet within the field while also being with an amazing company such as Under Armour,  “I’m just trying to be a sponge and learn a few things before I head off into the real world of business.”
